In this episode of Oklahoma Gardening, Host Casey Hentges direct sows squash, Black Beauty Zucchini, moonflowers, and cucumbers in a raised bed. OSU Extension Fruit and Vegetable Crop Specialist, Lynn Brandenberger, has tips for when to plant your summer vegetables. OSU Extension Pecan, Grape, and Fruit Specialist, Becky Carroll, is in the orchard to monitor the infamous insect plum curculio, Conotrachelus nenuphar, in our peaches. In Oklahoma, this weevil is one of the most important insects attacking fruit. In particular, it is extremely detrimental where stone fruits (such as peaches, plums, and apricots) are interplanted with pome fruits (such as apples and pears). We get a little more life out of an old leaky hose. Casey shows us one way to fix a cracked and damaged hose in our garden. And OSU Extension Food Specialist, Barbara Brown, has a special guest, Jake Nelson, a Meat Processing Specialist, to help us get the most from our poultry dollars.
