First we learn some interesting facts with Scott Loss with the OSU Natural Resource Ecology and Management Department. Then we head out to the fields with graduate student, Yeugeniya Malyutina, who shows us some worms here in Oklahoma.

Traveling to Mustang, Okla. we visit with Harry Deupree of Deupree Farms about his U-Pick-It strawberries and a variety trial he is participating in. We take a look at fruit tree care in order for your crop to be healthy and productive. In addition, we take a look at some blackberry issues that could also affect your crop yields. Finally, we join Barbara Brown to cook some delicious blackberry scones.

John Stephens, an OSU-Stillwater Horticulturalist, joins Host Casey Hentges to build a succulent planter from a wine bottle. Extension Food Specialist Barbara Brown quenches our thirst with a blueberry green tea. We continue our tour of gardening in northwest Oklahoma. We stop at the Salt Plains National Wildlife Area near Cherokee, Oklahoma to visit with Steve Alspach, a soil scientist with the USDA-NRCS. He tells us about the soils in that part of the state and explains how such a large salt-encrusted area came to be in Oklahoma. We enjoy a secluded shady garden in Guymon that is made for entertaining. Also in Guymon, we visit Helms Nursery, a family owned business that specializes in growing beautiful plants made for the rigors of northwest landscapes.
