Barbara Brown has been the Food Specialist with the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service since 1981. During that time, she has worked on programs for consumers that help them learn skills and make choices to make their food more nutritious, better tasting, safer and more economical. The focus of Barbara's work on Oklahoma Gardening has added to that effort but has been especially aimed at getting Oklahomans to eat more produce and to preserve food by methods that are safe and protect quality and nutrition. Barbara Brown has B.S. and M.S. degrees from Kansas State University in Food and Nutrition and a Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University in Home Economics. She is also a registered and licensed dietitian.
The Oklahoma Gardening Studio Garden is located in The Botanic Garden at Oklahoma State University. The studio gardens house 25 garden beds featuring a variety of plant collections and planting themes to accommodate our diverse programming. Several beds change out seasonally to allow us to feature new plant material and gardening topics. There is always something new to see, come visit us!
We support the Plant-a-Row for the Hungry Campaign and encourage every gardener to plant an extra row of produce and help make a difference to a hungry family in your community.
