The OKG Production Team

Meet the OKG production team.

CASEY HENTGES will be the face you see when tuning in to “Oklahoma Gardening” every Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon on OETA. Casey comes to OKG with a wealth of gardening and horticultural experience under her belt. Before joining forces with the OKG team, she served as director of horticulture at the Myriad Botanical Gardens in Oklahoma City. She also worked for ValleyCrest Landscaping Companies, where she was responsible for the management of the landscape at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center. In addition, she served as the Canadian County horticulture/4-H youth development educator for the OSU Cooperative Extension for five years.

Kevin Gragg


KEVIN GRAGG,
Producer Director/Videographer.

During his tenure on the show he has overseen the transition from analog to computer-based video production and has recently began producing the program in high definition. Kevin holds a bachelor’s degree in photojournalism and master’s degree in education, both from OSU, and is an avid family gardener.

Jane Carter

JANE CARTER became the studio gardens manager for Oklahoma Gardening in January 2009. She earned her Master Gardener certification in 2005 and completed of her bachelor’s degree in public horticulture from Oklahoma State University, December 2011.

Jane is an active volunteer who coordinates and designs landscape beautification projects for her community. She has a passion for innovative landscape design with a goal of integrating plants and people.

Laura Payne

LAURA PAYNE became the third studio garden manager in 2001. After five years of managing the studio gardens, Laura moved on to a new position at The Botanic Gardens, serving as Volunteer Coordinator for the Ambassador Program and Field Producer for Oklahoma Gardening.

Laura was the first student to graduate from OSU with a degree emphasis on Public Horticulture and is currently working on her master’s degree in leisure and recreation management.

Barbara Brown

BARBARA BROWN became the Food Specialist for the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service in 1981. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Kansas State University in food and nutrition, a Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University in home economics and is a registered and licensed dietitian.

Barb’s goal is to help Oklahoman’s live healthier by teaching that good-for-you food, like fruits, vegetables and whole grains, can be easy to fix, good tasting food. Even the Brussels sprouts and lima beans.

David Hillock

DAVID HILLOCK serves as Assistant Extension Specialist in Consumer Horticulture and State Coordinator of the Master Gardener Program. David’s educational programming covers all aspects of consumer horticulture, though he has a particular interest in landscaping and ornamental plant material.

David also plays a role on the Oklahoma Gardening team, presenting monthly Horticulture Tips and timely how-to garden segments.

Stephanie Larimer

STEPHANIE LARIMER has worked with Oklahoma Gardening and the Horticulture and Landscape Architecture Department for 16 years.

Stephanie is the friendly voice many hear when scheduling tours and asking OKG programming questions. She also works with conferences, workshops and other events in the department.

 

Breanna Brown

BREANNA BROWN joins the OKG team as the new video editor. She received her bachelors degree in Electronic, Media, Arts and Communication from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2013 and her Master Degree in film from Boston University in 2015.

AmbassadorsThe Botanic Garden Ambassadors and volunteers ensure the success of Oklahoma Gardening and make the beauty of the studio gardens possible through their hard work and dedication. The Ambassadors are trained volunteers who help maintain the studio gardens, conduct educational programs, and assist with the production of Oklahoma Gardening. The mission of the Ambassadors is to serve as Oklahoma Gardening and The Botanic Garden at OSU representatives to maintain and further expand educational outreach programs.
